Dr. Vishwambhar Nath
Senior Consultant Urologist & Renal Transplant Surgeon
Dr. Vishwambhar Nath is a well known and highly regarded Senior Urologist with 40 years experience in internationally famous leading urology departments in India and abroad.
He received his undergraduate and postgraduate training at CMC Vellore and higher surgical training in urology at Vellore and Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne in UK.
He joined the faculty at Vellore and rose to be appointed Professor of Urology in1994. After Vellore he moved to the UAE and then UK, working in leading urology departments in both countries. In addition to being the chief surgeon of the kidney transplant program, he also set up endo-urology and complex cancer surgery in the UAE. He then moved to the UK as consultant urologist at the Cambridge University Teaching Hospitals, before returning to India for family reasons in 2009. Since then, he has been based in Hyderabad and, after heading urology departments in two of the leading hospitals in the city, he has now moved to provide his services at Pace Hospitals, an organisation already recognised as a center of excellence for tertiary health care, where Dr. Vishwambhar Nath sees tremendous potential to help set up urology and transplantation services of truly international standards.
With the major part of his career in premier academic departments of international repute, Dr. Vishwambhar Nath has published and presented widely in national and international journals and conferences. He enjoys a well-deserved reputation as a gifted teacher and mentor, and many of his trainees and younger colleagues in India and abroad are now professors and internationally renowned urologists themselves. He has been involved in many aspects of cutting edge growth and development in urology over the past 4 decades and his present main interests include BPH and Bladder Dysfunction, Urological Cancers with special interest in Bladder Cancer, Minimally Invasive treatments for Kidney Stones, and Kidney Transplantation. He also continues to mentor and support younger colleagues in the newer fields of Laparoscopic and Robotic Urology.
