Intestinal cancer, also known as small or large intestine cancer, occurs when aberrant cells develop and grow uncontrolled in the intestinal lining. It can originate in the small intestine, often as adenocarcinoma, or in the large intestine (colorectal cancer). Risk factors include age, genetic predisposition, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), poor diet, smoking, and alcohol use. Symptoms vary but may include abdominal pain, weight loss, blood in the stool, changes in bowel habits, or anaemia. Diagnosis typically involves imaging, endoscopy, and biopsy.
