Viral Fever - Symptoms, Causes, Types, Prevention, Treatment | Viral Hemorrhagic Fever
By Pace Hospitals June 28, 2023
The increase in bodily temperature due to the infection caused by the virus falls into the category of viral fever. These small ubiquitous microorganisms, the virus, usually range from a few hundred nanometres in size. The severity of the fever depends on the virulence of the microorganism and the host's response to the infection. The symptoms of Viral hemorrhagic fevers include coagulopathies, hemodynamic instability, changes in mental state, and, in extreme cases death.

Viral fever is commonly caused by various viral infections, including influenza, dengue, and COVID-19, which can lead to a range of symptoms such as high fever, chills, and fatigue. Treatment primarily focuses on relieving symptoms and may include rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications. In a few cases, antiviral medicines might be prescribed for particular viral infections. Prevention is crucial and involves practicing good hygiene, such as regular handwashing and vaccination where available. Staying informed about outbreaks and avoiding close contact with infected individuals can also help reduce the risk of contracting viral fever.
