Gallbladder stones or Gallstones are the hardened pebble-like particles that form in the gallbladder, it is also called as cholelithiasis. There could be a single massive gallstone, hundreds of smaller stones, or a combination of small and large stones in the gallbladder. Usually, until symptoms occur, gallstones are not dangerous. Nevertheless, in the long term as they can cause biliary cholic and various other complications. Treatment is necessary, at least at that time.

Gallbladder stones, or gallstones, are hardened deposits of digestive fluids that form in the gallbladder. They develop due to excess cholesterol, bile imbalances, or poor gallbladder emptying. Symptoms may include severe abdominal pain, nausea, and digestive discomfort, while some people remain asymptomatic. If untreated, gallstones can lead to complications like inflammation, infections, or bile duct blockages. Diagnosis typically involves ultrasound or imaging tests. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes and medications to gallbladder removal surgery (cholecystectomy) in severe cases.

Gall stones – Frequently asked questions and misconceptions
By Pace Hospitals December 14, 2019
Gallstones only cause severe abdominal pain. Symptoms such as abdominal tightness, bloating, indigestion, heartburn, constipation and increased frequency of stools are very common in the general population and are not related to gallstones. Mostly when the patients / treating doctors try to correlate these symptoms with gallstones it leads to unhappiness as these symptoms may not get relieved by a cholecystectomy.
